About us

The WSAA Board held its most recent meeting on Friday 17th October 2024 in Brisbane. Below is a summary of the meeting from President Gilbert Da Silva:

The Board of Directors’ Meeting covered key updates and decisions across governance, membership and marketing, energy efficiency, training and strategic initiatives.

Continuously improving our governance framework is a focus, with updates to an internal policy and the new member logo and usage guidelines approved at this meeting. To increase our communication with members, the board approved distributing these meeting summaries via the WSAA newsletter.

Membership fee discussions led to a reduction in retail member fees to $495 per annum, with updated fee guidelines established for multi-outlet retailers under shared ownership.

Following our inclusion into the NatHER’s Existing Homes trial, the Board approved an expanded energy efficiency strategy, with a redefined outcome for our WincovER program to ‘Allow consumers to compare existing energy performance of their window shadings with an upgrade path to more energy efficient solutions based upon their personal living situation.’

The WSAA also renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with Frontline to also include offering short courses in industry-relevant skills, signalling a commitment to accessible professional development.

Regarding finances, the Board approved transitioning to new auditors to prepare and audit our end of year financial statements and noted good early progress against our strategic plan action items, with our next focus to be membership growth and participation in Global Shading Day.

Jules Di Bartolomeo of Verosol was appointed as a new director to fill a casual vacancy position and we agreed to formalising a more structured nomination process from next year.

Our next meeting is scheduled for February 2025 in Melbourne.
