October Board & Annual General Meeting Summary

The WSAA held its most recent Board meeting and Annual General Meeting on Thursday 16th October 2025 in Melbourne. Below is a combined summary of these meetings from co-President Chris Parkinson who chaired both meetings:

The Association continues to grow strongly, welcoming another dozen members since the previous Board meeting. This represents a 22% year-to-date increase which is on target with the Board’s annual growth strategy.

In governance matters, the Board appointed Wesley Fawaz as Company Secretary, and approved a new Audit, Finance & Risk Committee Charter. This meeting also marked Gilbert Da Silva’s final Board meeting, with thanks expressed at the AGM for his seven years of service. Also during the AGM, members acknowledged receipt of the audited financial statements and approved the election of Jules Di Bartolomeo (Verosol) and Robert Blanch (TWO Australia) to the WSAA Board as member directors.

CEO Wesley Fawaz shared exciting updates on the Association’s strategic direction, spotlighting key projects driving the Associations progress and WSAA Director Jason Lewis provided Directors and members with a sneak preview of the new WincovER energy-efficiency simulator.

Designed to help consumers make more informed window-shading choices and understand upgrade pathways to more energy-efficient solutions, the members-only WincovER initiative will be launched at SuperExpo2026, following retailer focus groups and drafting a comprehensive communications plan.

Following the conclusion of the AGM formalities, WSAA members Peter Skinner (Shade Factor) and Theo Tsalacopoulos (Unique Screens) delivered an in-depth presentation on a complex residential development, outlining the design process, tender phase and detailing how they collaborated throughout the project.

Members were also updated on the psychological regulations coming into effect in Victoria on 1 December 20925 by Steph Dann of Business Solutions Hub as well as the recent review of the Certificate III qualification in Blinds, Awnings, Security Screens and Grilles by Steve Quirk of Frontline.
