WincovER: A New Energy Savings Tool for Window Shading Retailers

June 19, 2026

WincovER is a free, web-based energy savings simulator built exclusively for members of the Window Shading Association of Australia (WSAA). Launched at SuperExpo2026 and now live on the WSAA member portal, it lets retailers generate personalised, science-backed energy savings estimates for customers on the spot — using nothing more than a postcode, some home inputs and the window covering being recommended.

How WincovER works

A retailer enters five details about the customer's home:

  • Postcode
  • House type
  • Construction period
  • Glazing type
  • Energy source

They then select the window covering under consideration. WincovER returns an indicative result — potential heating and cooling cost savings and CO₂ reduction — specific to that home and location. Results can be saved, named by customer or job, and downloaded as a shareable certificate.

Window coverings themselves are assessed against four consistent characteristics:

  • Insulation level
  • Air tightness
  • Light transmission
  • Streetside colour

These map directly to the product knowledge retailers already have — there's no additional technical training required to use the tool.

The modelling behind the tool draws on more than 525,000 window shading scenarios across 19 Australian climate zones, using the same software that calculates official NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) star ratings for Australian homes.

How does it help retailers sell?

WincovER works on a tablet during a home consultation, so retailers can run a simulation in front of a customer using their actual address and home details. Because the result is generated independently — not asserted by the retailer — it carries more weight in the conversation than a sales claim alone.

The tool also supports side-by-side product comparisons, giving retailers a data-backed way to discuss higher-performing or automated options.

"For me, understanding how WincovER works across different climate zones is really important. I run an e-commerce business selling cellular blinds right across Australia — being able to integrate that performance data is very beneficial."— Merimy Bruens, Owner, Beautiful Blinds

Is WincovER only for retailers?

WincovER is a member-exclusive tool, so retailers need an active WSAA membership to access it. For manufacturers and suppliers with retail networks, that creates a practical incentive: helping a retail customer join WSAA also gives that retailer a tool that makes them more effective at selling.

"As a wholesale supplier, we absolutely want to take the lead in encouraging our customers and connecting them to the association. WincovER gives us a genuine reason to do that."— Danny Elassaad, Managing Director, CW Products

How do I access WincovER?

WincovER is available now through the WSAA member portal. Existing members can log in at wsaa.au and select WincovER from their dashboard. Businesses that are not yet WSAA members can join at wsaa.au or contact the team at info@wsaa.au — membership is open to retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, importers, and service providers in the window shading industry.
